Ms. Anu Suraj is a mental health professional, who is specialized in trauma-informed therapy. She has more than a decade's experience as a professional. She is a certified child safety educator (PSE) who has passionately & selflessly empowered around 3 lakh plus children/adults and helped them thrive through trauma. She is an active crusader, mentor and co-founder of a global non-profit organisation, Swaraksha, which works towards Child Protection and Safety. She is currently consulting in TGHC. Inc - Bangalore and she has her own healing space, AatmaSaukhya Wellness and Counseling Center based in Cochin, Kerala and reaching out globally on a hybrid model
She holds position as a counselor and life coach at Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission, a flagship project by State govt undertaken by the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic council (K-DISC) to uplift the social and economic development of the state. She is the Vice-president of Kerala Mental Health Council, & a member of Kerala Clinical Counselors Association.
She is the proud recepient of Bhoomika "Unsung Heroes" awards in 2017. She was recognised by Star Networks in the year 2020 for contributing towards wellness & social work throughout the pandemic. She was also quoted by Vanitha Magazine Group as one of the 10 leading Changemakers of Kerala along with 9 other Lady pioneers in 2018. Her NGO, Swaraksha, was also awarded, The Humanitarian Excellence Award, in the year 2021. She received accodolades from United Nations Economic and Social affairs in the field of clinical social work and mental health and World Human Rights Protection Commission for advocating for child rights
She has been contributing to society through various social initiatives, selflessly. She used expressive arts and ideated puppet shows, role plays and doll plays to educate children on "body safety" and she is actively involved in child rights advocacy. She had facilitated workshops to support cancer and trauma survivors through the pandemic and help them get back to functional living. She also spearheaded an all-inclusive workshop for children named Anokha, which facilitated inclusion and focused on holistic development. She has jointly worked with Law Enforcements in coordinating programs to empower Children and Women. She is trained in KRAV MAGA Isralean self-defense system. She has Storylined two short movies produced by her NGO to support the cause.
